Volunteer Adult Leaders
The Army Cadet
Force is not part of the Army. There is no call-up liability: it isn't the TA.
Nor is it designed to make you or anyone else join the Army.
In fact, the Army Cadet Force is a youth organisation, sponsored by the Ministry
of Defence, which offers young people - and the adult leaders as well! - many
opportunities to try exciting and adventurous activities which you maybe never
thought about!
The Army Cadet Force is directly dependent on the commitment of its volunteer
adult leaders, some of whom are ex-cadets themselves, and typically live and
work in the local community.
In Lincolnshire ACF we equip our adults with the latest knowledge and skills to
cope with the challenges facing youth leaders today. You can also take advantage
of professional Army courses in skills like canoeing, climbing and mountain
leadership. Or train for recognised first aid qualifications, vocational
qualifications and the Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award.
You will soon become part of the management team of your detachment, your
company - even your County. And you might find hidden strengths which you never
knew you had! If they're in there, the ACF will bring them out.
All this, of course, is good for your CV - and it won't be bad for your wallet
as you will be paid for up to 28 days service, which helps prevent your
voluntary work costing you money. At the end of the day it's not what you
receive but what you give which motivates ACF leaders - it's the buzz of knowing
that you are helping guide young people from your community along the right path
for adult life.
If you are interested in becoming an adult leader then why not get in touch with
the Cadet Executive Officer at the County HQ who will be glad to discuss your
interest.
